Presently, dropshipping business is fast becoming one of the top lucrative business ideas you can start-up in Nigeria with little or no capital.
According to Wikipedia, dropshipping is a supply chain management method in which the retailer does not keep goods in stock but instead transfers the customer orders and shipment details to either the manufacturer, another retailer, or a wholesaler, who then ships the goods directly to the customer.
Simply put; with dropshipping, you do not need to own a store neither do you need to stock up on goods. All you need to do is find your niche, a product line you can comfortably sell. If you think you are fashionable or people tend to complement your ability to match clothing items, perhaps your niche could be in fashion. Other lucrative niches to explore are: Makeup and Beauty, Hair, Foodstuffs, Mom and Baby items, etc
Once you have found your niche, the next step is to find a supplier. In this present day, suppliers are everywhere and are easy to find. You can find suppliers online or at the wholesale market in your area.
Now that you know what you want to sell and where to buy at a cheaper price in other to make a profit it is time to start your business.
If you don’t want your supplier to handle deliveries for you, you can decide to get pictures of the product you want to sell, (either by going to your supplier and taking snapshots of the goods or by asking your supplier to send you pictures) market the products and when you get an order you then go ahead to buy from your supplier and deliver.
It is to your own advantage if you can convince your customer to pay before delivery so that you don’t really need to source for funds to purchase the goods except in some cases where your supplier does the delivery for you and remits your profit back to you once the order has been delivered

- Choose a Product to Sell: The first step to this is choosing the product you want to sell.
- Find a Reliable Supplier: The place of suppliers cannot be over-emphasized in the dropshipping business and it is important that you find a trustworthy one with good reviews.
- Choose a selling platform: There are several platforms you can choose to start your business from. Top on my list is your WhatsApp story. Other platforms to explore are facebook, Instagram, Jiji, etc
- Market your business: The more people that get to see your products, the higher your chances of closing a sale. So be aggressive in your marketing. You can run facebook and Instagram adverts if you can afford it but if you can’t make sure you are consistent in posting about your products on the platforms in step 4. One way to get people to notice you faster is to demonstrate or talk about the problems your products can solve or educate people on how to use your products.
